About the resort
Your holiday to Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi starts in style with a very pleasant transfer aboard the resort's own luxury yacht - complete with canapes served on the sundeck. It only takes about 30 minutes to reach the resort. Being close to the busy main island of Male can sometimes be seen as a negative - yet Waldorf Astoria gives you the best of both worlds; it's easy to get to, yet feels entirely far-flung since there are no other signs of civilisation nearby.
There are only 122 villas in total, dotted across three separate islands - giving ample privacy.
Around the resort, there are two huge infinity pools (one reserved just for adults), a glass-walled fitness centre and enormous watersports centre. Spend days exploring nearby reefs, learning to windsurf or paddle-boarding around the lagoon - or simply drift between your swinging daybed to your hammock on the beach, stopping for a dip in the pool or a refreshing tipple at the beach club bar.
Every one of the resort's sleek villas come with generously-sized private pools (long enough for laps as well as lounging), together with ample indoor and outdoor living spaces. They have massive floor to ceiling windows that ensure you're treated to superb scenes of sand and sea from every corner of your villa (the blinds open and close with a swipe of your in-room iPad). You'll be well looked after by your personal concierge - who can arrange restaurant reservations, help you with unpacking, or bring you a freshly squeezed juice whenever you feel like one.
